Summary for Program Manager 

Optisys, a leader in metal additively manufactured antennas, is growing. We are working with the largest aerospace companies in the world to provide mission-critical antennas for apace, aircraft, and ground vehicles. Our products connect the earth to missions on Mars, Venus, and the Moon, provide in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity for commercial airlines, and provide SATCOM connections for the most demanding military ground platforms. We are looking for program managers to help us collaborate with our customers and engineering teams to deliver antennas for the most demanding applications.

The Optisys Program Manager is responsible for meeting customer and business objectives by leading matrix teams and managing projects. 

This is a new role, due to the exponential increase in design work, specifically in electromagnetic antenna design. This role is located at the Optisys HQ in Salt Lake City, UT, and reports to the Director of Programs. 

This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding company that produces the leading edge of a metal 3D printed solution.

Requirements include:
Current US Citizenship or Current Permanent Green Card Holder
BS Degree with 5 years work experience as a Program Manager 

Key qualifications include:
Demonstrated experience managing geographically distributed teams
Experience with contract and project management using ERP systems Epicor, SAP, Costpoint or similar
Experience with project management tools:
– MS Project (with waterfall and agile projects)
– Kanban and Scrum agile tools like Jira, Trello, and Microsoft Planner

Geographic Requirement:
Availability needed to work onsite at Optisys UT Headquarters. Hybrid work from home schedule can be considered with a proven track record of success for remote work.

 

Experience Needed 

Experience building relationships with highly technical customers, suppliers, internal engineering staff

Hands-on experience managing products and projects with high volume outsourced manufacturing, using special processes.

Experience managing product development projects

Management of geographically distributed teams

Experience writing and pricing proposals for customers

Experience with contract and project management using ERP systems Epicor, SAP, Costpoint or similar

Experience with project management tools:
– MS Project (with waterfall and agile projects)
– Kanban and Scrum agile tools like Jira, Trello, and Microsoft Planner

Financial modeling and forecasting

Contracts management (some experience with FAR desirable but not required)

Requirements

Current US Citizenship or Current Permanent Green Card Holder

BS Degree with 5 years of work experience with a highly technical company.

>5 years experience in a project manager, program manager or similar role at a highly technical company

Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field

Project management training and/or certifications (PMP, Agile Scrum Master, Agile Product Owner) desirable but not required

 

Geographic Location

Top Priorities During the First 6 Months: 

Take ownership of an assigned portfolio of programs, and create IMS, RMP and WBS

Develop scrum or kanban boards and dashboards for assigned projects and manage development activities

Lead and deliver 6 proposals

Develop and implement one tool and/or procedure to improve our PMO processes

Deliver a communications plan for assigned customers

Compensation 

The annual On-Target base salary range is between $100,000 – $160,000.
There is an annual bonus based on performance with a range of $10,000 – $16,000
The pay cycle is every other week.

Ernie Ercillo, Director of Programs and Hiring Manager

Ernie Ercilla, Director of Programs (Hiring Manager)

Ernie Ercilla is a Program Manager and Engineer with 20 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry. Ernie has managed high-volume production for commercial and defense aerostructures, product development programs with annual revenue streams greater than $150M per year, and led engineering teams that developed complex communication systems for US military platforms. Ernie is building an agile program management organization at Optisys that values servant leadership, collaboration, and communication to meet customer and business objectives.

Janos Opra, CEO

Janos Opra has 17 years of experience in military communications systems ranging from RF engineer to business development to leadership. He has won multiple new business opportunities by coordinating with engineers, program management, and end users to develop products. These products had a market segment of over $100 million. Mr. Opra has a wide variety of industry contacts from his time spent in the aerospace industry. He has worked directly with high level military planners to establish project requirements and CONOPs for multimillion dollar hardware platforms and their supporting software.

Robert Smith, COO

Robert Smith has 23 years of experience designing and analyzing equipment and RF components to MIL-STD requirements and is an expert in metal additive manufacturing. For the past 4 years, he has focused his expertise on AM with an emphasis on aluminum RF components. With Optisys, Mr. Smith focuses on overseeing the design and fabrication of antenna products, pushing into new territory in metal AM processes.

Clinton Cathey, CSO

Clinton Cathey has 18 years of engineering experience, with the last 13 years of experience in communications systems ranging from ME/EE engineer to project lead. At Optisys, Mr. Cathey leads the company and provides technical and management direction. He is a preeminent expert in antennas and motion controls with specializations in pointing and tracking systems. His focus has been with industrial automation through airborne and shipboard motion stabilized and target tracking gimbals. He is an IEEE Senior Member and is an inventor on multiple patents related to tracking and SATCOM antennas

Michael Hollenbeck, CTO

Michael Hollenbeck has 14 years of experience designing and analyzing antenna and RF components for commercial and military communication systems. At Optisys, he designs cutting edge RF and antenna components using AM and provides technical direction for the company. Mr. Hollenbeck has led numerous projects, including design and simulation of complex RF components such as waveguide, antennas, arrays, and filters to critical success. He has worked on iterative designs to produce RF products in the 1-100 GHz (3-300 mm) ranges.
