Optisys excels at rapidly developed, customized, high performance antenna designs in metal waveguide for global customers that include Lockheed Martin, Boeing, L-3Harris and General Dynamics. Optisys serves a broad range of market segments from sea to deep space, with many deployments in all these areas. These solutions are produced for the commercial, defense and government sectors.
Optisys is a turn-key solutions provider offering components or full system development and has a full vertically integrated process from design through manufacturing. This enables engineers to see their designs through the whole development process from design through production, test, and deployment.
Optisys is the only successful US-based design specialist for antennas produced using metal 3D printing. We currently have around 30 employees and are on a very rapid growth tract due to an enormous influx of customers and IRAD for new technology.

Optisys is maturing and growing. As our business is expanding, we are seeking a Process Engineer as Optisys doubles in size and production capabilities. Optisys is pushing the envelope of what can be done with additive manufacturing.
The Optisys Process Engineer is responsible for working with our Major Suppliers to Out-Source Production. The Process Engineer designs and documents the In-House Production Processes while producing EDM and LRIP Units. Some Travel is required.
This is a new role, due to the exponential increase in design work, specifically in electromagnetic antenna design. This role is located at the Optisys HQ in Salt Lake City, UT and reports to the Director of Operations.

Requirements include:
Current US Citizenship or Current Permanent Green Card Holder
BS Degree with 1-2 years work experience as a Process Engineer (Aerospace Sector or Medical Sector is a plus)
Key qualifications include:
Demonstrated experience with Process Engineering (Aerospace Industry OR Medical Industry experience is a plus)
Design and Document Optisys Development and Production Processes
Train / Mentor Team Members in dynamic Production Processes
Oversee the operation and optimization of Optisys processes
Design and implement systemic processes as the Optisys Company grows
Clearly and concisely document Optisys processes for repeatability. Reduce waste (muda) and variation (mura).
Own the creation of Work Instructions/Procedures including process parameters
Create effective Travelers in Epicor ERP including: Method-of-Manufacture (MoM); traceability and “As-Built” data
Lead efforts to outsource production. Be on-site at Optisys Major Suppliers Some travel required
Perform Producibility Studies on Optisys Designs. Actively support Design Reviews Lead Production Readiness Reviews
Train / Mentor Team Members on how to follow our documented processes
Lead LEAN/ Kaizen improvement projects
Manage process resources including equipment utilizations and balance / resolve production bottlenecks (muri). Conduct capacity and capability Trade Studies with Safety and Risk Assessments
Drive efficiency into Production processes in order to improve Quality, reduce costs and increase throughput
Be the subject matter expert on the processes for: Rapid Engineering Development Models (prototypes); First Article Inspection/ Test Units; Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and Full Rate Production
Experienced with Design of Experiment (DoE)
Current US Citizenship or Current Permanent Green Card Holder

Experience with process simulations and standard operating procedures
Experience working with CAD/Solidworks. Experience with Materialise Software is a plus

This role is located at the OPTISYS Salt Lake offices. A relocation package is available.

Create Optisys Current State Value Stream Map(VSM) (1 month) and Future State (3 months)
Become efficient in Optisys Process and Enterprise Resource Planning Systems. (2 Months)
Document Optisys Processes. This includes Travelers, Work Instructions, End User Process, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.
Transition first product from Optisys Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) to outsourced Production. This includes on-site travel at our major supplier (4 months)
Lead LEAN / Kaizen Improvement Burst Event (5 Months)
The annual On-Target base salary range is between $90,000 – $110,000.
There is an annual bonus based on performance.
The pay cycle is every other week.

Doug has 30 years of Aerospace Operations Management experience including living a decade in Europe and Asia. His expertise is building Teams and Production Lines to delivery Aerospace Products with an emphasize on final integration, test, delivery and support. He is responsible for the people, paper (documentation) and processes to make Optisys Products. He leads Quality including Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Actions. He is passionate about Continuous Process Improvements with LEAN, 6 Sigma, 5-S, Agile and Scrum! Doug manages the Operations life cycle from Engineering Development Models through, Low Rate and Full Production including out-sourced capacity.
Janos Opra has 17 years of experience in military communications systems ranging from RF engineer to business development to leadership. He has won multiple new business opportunities by coordinating with engineers, program management, and end users to develop products. These products had a market segment of over $100 million. Mr. Opra has a wide variety of industry contacts from his time spent in the aerospace industry. He has worked directly with high level military planners to establish project requirements and CONOPs for multimillion dollar hardware platforms and their supporting software.
Robert Smith has 23 years of experience designing and analyzing equipment and RF components to MIL-STD requirements and is an expert in metal additive manufacturing. For the past 4 years, he has focused his expertise on AM with an emphasis on aluminum RF components. With Optisys, Mr. Smith focuses on overseeing the design and fabrication of antenna products, pushing into new territory in metal AM processes.
Clinton Cathey has 18 years of engineering experience, with the last 13 years of experience in communications systems ranging from ME/EE engineer to project lead. At Optisys, Mr. Cathey leads the company and provides technical and management direction. He is a preeminent expert in antennas and motion controls with specializations in pointing and tracking systems. His focus has been with industrial automation through airborne and shipboard motion stabilized and target tracking gimbals. He is an IEEE Senior Member and is an inventor on multiple patents related to tracking and SATCOM antennas
Michael Hollenbeck has 14 years of experience designing and analyzing antenna and RF components for commercial and military communication systems. At Optisys, he designs cutting edge RF and antenna components using AM and provides technical direction for the company. Mr. Hollenbeck has led numerous projects, including design and simulation of complex RF components such as waveguide, antennas, arrays, and filters to critical success. He has worked on iterative designs to produce RF products in the 1-100 GHz (3-300 mm) ranges.
