Summary for Senior Configuration Manager

Optisys is maturing and growing. As our business is expanding, we are seeking a Senior Configuration Manager to join our team. Optisys is pushing the envelope of what can be done with additive manufacturing.  This is a new role, due to the exponential increase in design work, specifically in electromagnetic antenna design. This role is located at the Optisys HQ in Salt Lake City, UT.

We are looking for a senior configuration management professional to develop and grow our configuration and document management procedures and practices. 

Success for this role will be measured by:
-Establishment of Change Control Board process.
-Development of Optisys’ Configuration Management processes from current state to meet Aerospace Industry standards (AS9100, EIA-649 & MIL-STD-973).
-Aiding Optisys’ selection and implementation of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
-Managing day to day configuration changes to policies, procedures, engineering documentation, and manufacturing files.

The Senior Configuration Management Specialist reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for:
– Company Configuration Management
– Data Management
– Change Control Board oversight.

Required: Current US Citizenship or Current Permanent Green Card Holder

Key Required Qualifications Include:

– 10+ years of demonstrated experience with Configuration/Document/Change management including 5+ years working in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

– Experience establishing and chairing Change Control Boards.

– Experience selecting, implementing, and managing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

– Demonstrated experience and track record preparing for Physical Configuration (PCA) and Functional Configuration (PCA) audits in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated experience with EIA-649 & MIL-STD-973 CM principles.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Oversee the evolution and development of Configuration Management and Change Control Board procedures and processes.

Establish configuration management plans in accordance with contractual requirements and industry standards.

Oversee and authorize the release of engineering drawings, test procedures, QMS Documents, and manufacturing files.

Oversee implementation of aerospace industry PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software. Able to take ownership and management of PLM.

Participation in third-party and customer audits.

Work with global product lifecycle management (Teamcenter, Wildfire, etc).

Work with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, and ERP Systems including ability to learn new software and databases.

Geographic Location

This role is located at the OPTISYS Salt Lake offices. A relocation package is available for the right candidate.

Top Priorities During the First 6 Months: 

Help Optisys grow its CM process to meet Aerospace Industry standards (AS9100/ISO9001, EIA-649 & MIL-STD-973).

Help in the selection and implementation of PLM software.

Help establish and implement change control board process.

Compensation 

The annual On-Target base salary range is between $100,000 – $120,000.
There is an annual bonus based on performance.
The pay cycle is every other week.

Bio of Hiring Manager

Zach Couchman, Quality Manager & Hiring Manager

Zach Couchman has 14 years of experience in Quality working with companies in the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries. The companies for which he has worked specialize in packaging, space-qualified electronic systems, castings, and additive manufacturing. Mr. Couchman has worked numerous programs including supplying products for nuclear reactors, the International Space Station, James Webb Space Telescope, and NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services. At Optisys, he leads the Quality team in program support, inspection and quality control, as well as managing the Quality Management System and industry certifications.

Optisys Executive Leadership

Janos Opra, CEO

Janos Opra has 17 years of experience in military communications systems ranging from RF engineer to business development to leadership. He has won multiple new business opportunities by coordinating with engineers, program management, and end users to develop products. These products had a market segment of over $100 million. Mr. Opra has a wide variety of industry contacts from his time spent in the aerospace industry. He has worked directly with high level military planners to establish project requirements and CONOPs for multimillion dollar hardware platforms and their supporting software.

Robert Smith, COO

Robert Smith has 23 years of experience designing and analyzing equipment and RF components to MIL-STD requirements and is an expert in metal additive manufacturing. For the past 4 years, he has focused his expertise on AM with an emphasis on aluminum RF components. With Optisys, Mr. Smith focuses on overseeing the design and fabrication of antenna products, pushing into new territory in metal AM processes.

Clinton Cathey, CSO

Clinton Cathey has 18 years of engineering experience, with the last 13 years of experience in communications systems ranging from ME/EE engineer to project lead. At Optisys, Mr. Cathey leads the company and provides technical and management direction. He is a preeminent expert in antennas and motion controls with specializations in pointing and tracking systems. His focus has been with industrial automation through airborne and shipboard motion stabilized and target tracking gimbals. He is an IEEE Senior Member and is an inventor on multiple patents related to tracking and SATCOM antennas

Michael Hollenbeck, CTO

Michael Hollenbeck has 14 years of experience designing and analyzing antenna and RF components for commercial and military communication systems. At Optisys, he designs cutting edge RF and antenna components using AM and provides technical direction for the company. Mr. Hollenbeck has led numerous projects, including design and simulation of complex RF components such as waveguide, antennas, arrays, and filters to critical success. He has worked on iterative designs to produce RF products in the 1-100 GHz (3-300 mm) ranges.
